Week Three

1. Describe Color and its effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.

Different colors evoke different emotions and feelings. Warm tones such as reds, yellows, and oranges set off the feeling of warmth and closeness in the views mind. Cool colors blue, green, and purple make the viewer feel colder and distant.

2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?

Color can affect a person’s appetite. In studies of how colors affect appetite it was found that blue is an appetite suppressant. This is due to a lack of blue colored foods that naturally occur in nature humans don’t have an automatic appetite response to blue. Red on the other hand is found to be an appetite stimulant. This is understandable since red is a substantial color in the foods we eat.

3. In the Color video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and its effects on emotions?

The aspect that made the biggest effect on me was the fresco period painters use of colors. In the one painting there were multiple different shades of red used across the painting and in some parts the same figure.

4. In the Feelings video, what made the biggest impact on you in regards to color and its effects on emotions?

Goya didn’t paint what he was told but painted what he saw in him imagination. What he saw were dark menacing images. He conveyed that darkness through his use of colors. Blacks and grays used to lead to a new idea of art to change the world.
